Tomorrow Is a New Day

Have you ever experienced a day you wished you could just do-over? Or maybe you feel that way about the last few months. You began this year with such high hopes, but now it seems to be a bust. You find yourself discouraged, exhausted, and hopeless.

We are thrilled to have you join us as we journey together to experience personal revival, vitality, and mission by receiving encouragement from God’s Word.

Although I am sixty-three years young, have been a Christ-follower since I was six years old, and have been married for over forty years, I still have days I wish I could have a do-over.

I had one recently! I had a really bad argument with my husband, John. I deeply regretted my words and actions. Before we went to sleep that night, I asked his forgiveness, and he asked for mine, and we prayed together. But when I awoke, I found myself sad and filled with regret … until I looked out the window at one of the most magnificent sunrises I have ever seen.

As I stood in wonder of God’s beautiful creation, I was reminded of Lamentations 3: “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (vv. 22-23 NIV). God never sits on His throne and contemplates my sins and failures of the previous day. If He did, there would be no meaning to the fact that He sent His Son to be a complete sacrifice for my sins.

This morning, this day, this moment can mark the beginning of a sunrise for you. Every year, you are given 365 sunrises and 365 opportunities to begin a new day. Maybe you said or did things this past year that you wish you had never done or said. Confess those to Jesus, and then walk in His forgiveness, His mercy, and His love. Be encouraged—there is a sunrise waiting for you!

Living in Revival, Vitality, and Mission

  • Begin and end each day asking the Lord to examine your heart. “Test me, LORD, and try me; examine my heart and mind” (Psalm 26:2 CSB).
  • Be quick to confess anything the Lord reveals to you, and receive His forgiveness. “When I kept silent, my bones became brittle from groaning all day long. For day and night, your hand was heavy on me; my strength was drained as in the summer’s heat. Then, I acknowledged my sin to you and did not conceal my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,’ and you forgave the guilt of my sin” (Psalm 32:3-5).
  • Take time today to go outside or look out at His creation. What does He reveal to you?
  • Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see someone else who needs encouragement.
