Opportunity is my word for 2021.
Now, it may not seem like the road ahead is paved with opportunity these days. We face unprecedented political division, violence, disunity, injustice, persecution, and pandemic.
But did you know, Jesus specifically told us that every one of those things would happen in the days just before He returns?!
Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name’s sake” (Luke 21:10-12 ESV).
And then He immediately says something amazing:
“This will be your opportunity to bear witness” (v. 13 ).
I don’t know about you, but that gets me pretty excited. Here are some things I hear the Spirit of the Lord saying:
- I’m returning soon.
- You have an opportunity of a lifetime in front of you.
- You don’t have to be surprised or afraid at the difficulties that surround you.
- The greatest opportunity ahead of you is to show and share the good news of Jesus.
With that in mind, we want to help you maximize the opportunity in front of you.
We are making available to you a free Bible study resource that very specifically addresses how you, your family, and your church can take the opportunity to experience the reviving of God’s Spirit that will equip you to share His love, even in times like these.
The resource is called Revive and Restart: A Study Through 1 Thessalonians. The Thessalonian believers saw their entire city and beyond changed in six months’ time—and they were brand new Christians!
In this study you will learn the powerful secrets and resources you already have to see the same things happen where you live.
The videos are free, and the study guides are very affordable. This resource is perfect for you as an individual, for your Bible study group, and for your entire church.
On the day of the riots at the United States Capitol, my seven-year-old grandson called me. When I saw he was calling, I thought he was probably afraid and needed reassurance.
But this is what he said: “Papa John, guess what! I got to help lead my friend to Jesus at school today!”
Keep your focus.
Nothing happening around you can stop you from taking the opportunity to experience the reviving power of Jesus and join Him on His mission. And that is a greater opportunity than being a president or a king!
