“You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word” (Psalm 119:114 ESV).

It is easy to lose hope. And this will almost certainly happen to you if you neglect to regularly recalibrate your mind to the truth.

Sadly, to fear and despair is all too human. These are our default settings—frustrating holdovers from our old nature.

And because we live in a world that is in the process of self-destructing, the bulk of the messages we take in, center on evil and its outworking. As our minds take in these worldly messages, even believers can succumb to doubt and panic.

But we don’t have to. We have access to liberating truth that can restore our joy at any moment—the Word of God.

So, let us take the Word into our minds often. Let us read it, meditate on it, discuss it. Through these exercises of the soul, we can overcome despair and restore hope.

Your Life in Action

Do something more than read the Bible today. Write out something God is teaching you, and share it with a friend or family member. Get in the habit of talking about His Word.
